The very first deer I ever killed was with a Bear Grizzly recurve
with a 48 lb. pull. Double lung pass thru and he went about 45
yards.

took my 10 year old nephew about 9 years ago and he killed 2 deer with a browning micro midas compound bow set at 40 pounds with 100 grain 3 blade muzzy broadheads. the first was a button buck that was shot at 20 yards broadside and was a complete passthrough. the 2nd 1 was an 8 point that was quartering away and was hit in the left hind quarter and passed through the entire lenghth of the deers body.i had the same concerns as u taking my nephew back then. i think she should limit her shots to 30 yards and avoid hitting an animal in that front shoulder.that big bone could stop an arrow from a low poundage bow.

It will not have a problem. I'm kinda leary about using mech. heads on a low poundage bow. That would be the only thing I change.

45 lbs is plenty, but take the advice and get a good fixed blade head. My choice in this situation is a 2 blade head for maximum penetration.

well im not sure if ya'll are fimiliar with the rage 40 ke broadheads. its made for low ke bows. someone shooting low poundage with short arrows. opens real easy! have not seen what it will do on a deer, but like i said it killed a turkey with no problem. i shoot i reg 2 blade rage, and ive never had a preoblem. i undrstand shot placement is key. thanks for all ya'll input. anyone know anyone using the 40ke rages. o and lil joker, i got married may of last year! lol!
