I bought mine and the lifeline system 2 weeks ago. It's a sign we're getting older and wiser.

Folks,

I lost a dear friend 2 years ago do to a treestand accident and it took his life. Please wear some form of safety device while in a stand. It matters to others....

Thats not a good reason..You will travel fast and light, straight to the ground one of these days from 30ft up, god forbid..They are a snap to put on and aren't in the way,i can only speak for the HSS vest..Im really glad I got one now that its bought and paid for.

I'm with Redblood on this one, how quiet are the vests when trying to stand and draw your bow on a deer that's close?

Have you had a harness rattle or bump against the stand and spook a deer?

Having a deer spook because it rattles or bumps against my stand is not as important as my children being without a father to me!

I've worn several different types of fall restraint devices over the years. I'm currently using the Pro HSS vest due to some very handy pockets and ease of use. I also own and really like the Summitt Seat of the Pants harness. I've never had one spook a deer from a rattle or rustle. Occasionally when you have to turn completely around in the stand to shoot behind the tree the tether to the tree can come into play if bowhunting. So be it.

But, even if that were to cost me the deer of a life-time it doesn't matter. The high likelihood that if I fall of substaining spinal injuries leaving me a a quadraplegic (which is a worse fear for me than death) makes it a total no-brainer. There is not a deer out there worth putting my family through something like that.

It is simply amazing to me to read grown men justifying not using something because it might cost them a deer or add a little weight to their pack in. Amazing.

Some of the previous HSS models had metal buckles that made all kinds of noise while in my stand. I didnt like it one bit so I sold it. Now Im using a summit harness but plan on getting one of the new HSS vests with no metal. As scn commented on, they do complicate things when bowhunting if presented with a shot from behind, but hey thats a price im willing to pay for my life.

Does this not make sense???...you bet it does... nobody's superman here, if not for yourself, do it for your loved ones...its called "being responsible".

How about the Summit fastback vs the regular S.O.P.? I like the looks of the HSS Ultra lite, but the Summit is made in the USA. What about HSS mfg country? Any feedback on these? Look much cooler and quite a bit less expensive.
