I've been saying for years that one of the best ways to see more bucks get a year older is to allow the harvest of "a" deer, instead of just ANY buck.

I couldnt agree more. I think if it was either sex in all areas that can stand it, we would see many more young bucks get a 2'nd year under their belt. As it is now many people are simply forced to shoot a young buck because its the only legal deer they see. I think this could be the single most effective change that could be made to get more bucks to another year of age, and it would do nothing but make more hunters happy IMO.

I would have no problem with that in areas that can withstand the extra doe harvest.

What I'm saying is INSTEAD of YOU getting 3 more doe tags,
how about ALL hunters getting at least one (1) doe tag instead of just three (3) buck tags?

The hunters most likely to take a doe instead of a young buck are currently that group of hunters that heads afield without so much as a single doe tag, mainly because their basic hunting license only comes with buck tags.

How about YOU just getting two (2) more doe tags? ;\)

Wes,

I think you missed my point I agree with you but now I can be selective and take a doe instead of a buck.

Good chance I missed your point. \:\)

In your county, say a guy just wants to go deer hunting, say on opening weekend or Thanksgiving, goes out, buys his deer hunting license, wants to spend as little as possible just to go deer hunting with his family and/or friends.

What is this fellow allowed to "harvest" in your county?

Nov 21 Opening Gun Season: Antlerless hunt Nov 22-28 2 does and Dec 18 - 26 2 more does. He still has 3 buck tags. Does this answer your question?
