Well, when you consider the host of the "scent loc" show the other day,he wouldnt hunt a stand cause the wind was wrong, you gotta wonder how much he believes in Sc ent Loc.
HA!
Back before scent-loc came out, a friend in the military gave me a chemical suit to try--the ones packed with activated charcoal. That thing was an absolute mess to use. Inner layers of clothing would be absolutely black from charcoal. But the first year I used it, the results were amazing. I could do just about anything without being scented by deer. However, by the second year it didn't seem to be working well at all. By the third year, it didn't appear to be providing any protection.
Now, after all the controversy over Scent-loc, I realize what had happened. It really did work when it was new (it had many, many times more activated charcoal than a scent-loc suit). But by the second season it had already absorbed as much as it could and had lost effectiveness.

I hear what you are saying...makes sense. I tried the Chem Suit back in the day also, boy was it a mess and hot. Like I said in the beginning it is for something to talk about.

Just to throw my 2 cents in.... I have used Scentlok/scent blocker over the last 8 to 10 yrs.... I think it works and it gives instruction on how to make it last longer (dry more/wash less). I hunt in the mountains of E. TN and the wind is hard to read... I will pay a little extra every year to try and get the edge.... If it really doesn't work then I will let my mind think different...

I agree, you can reduce your scent with taking the steps from the shower all the way to the field and your clothing/equipment. I do most these things and sure it helps some, but if a deer has your scent blown in his face you are busted, end of story. I dont spend the money on the scentlok clothing either, as stated above its been proven pretty much unaffective shortly after being used. I do however wear some of the xscent stuff that helps with bacteria and so forth that promotes scent. The wind is the very most important factor but very rarely will you ever beat an old buck 100% and have him walking directly down wind, so any thing you can do to reduce your scent will definitely help a little IMO.

Never been used, however I did remove it from vacuum seal. Too small for me (I'm a big'un) so if you want it you can have it.

I agree completely Winchester. I no longer fool with scent-loc clothing because it rapidly loses its effectiveness. I still DO use extreme measures to reduce my scent through clean body and clothing with scent-reducing soaps. However, as you stated, a wary deer directly downwind and you will lose every time!
