I think everything you can do to control your scent can only help. Started a few years ago carrying an extra shirt. Once I get up in the stand will take off the shirt I was wearing and wipe myself dry (sweat) and then spray myself with cool water. Then I put on a fresh shirt and then scent killer. Deer sightings increased a good bit.

I've done that and I do think it helps...But do you think that you just found the right spot....to hunt.....

The best scent is as little scent as possible.
Anything you can do to reduce human and foreign scent to a deer will increase your deer sightings. And in my experiences, most attractant and cover scents have proved more a liability than asset. Sometime they help, but more often they hurt. This includes using estrous doe scent, which commonly spooks a real estrous doe, taking that buck out of the area with her.

One cover scent that I stumbled across a few yrs. back was buck urine... I hunt on the sides of ridges/leads and while hunting I fill the Tink's bombs with buck urine... It seems to pull other bucks into the area during the early season... I have seen more bucks over the last several seasons then ever before...JMO

Interesting you should mention that particular scent gator-n-buck. In the "artificial scents in mock scrapes" research conducted by Ben Koerth, the only substance that outperformed human urine was commercially bottled "dominant buck urine."

I have used dominant buck urine by HS or CB the last several years... It was the only thing that Wal-mart had and they were out of coon/fox urine... I figured what the heck...... Since then, I have never turned back... Seen more bucks in the last 4 yrs. then ever before... Used it on every hunt... Even had a nice 10 pt. stomping behind me on the ridge this past season (during the rut) and I couldn't get turned around... I even spooked him a little with movement and he only went about 50 yards into the thick stuff and stopped to look back... It seems to work and I'm going to keep using it...

Gator I like the coon urine too. Its the only scent lure/cover up I tend to use while in tree. I saturate the trees trunk once up there. I know deer can probably separate the two scents but it is powerful stuff and you just never know if it "saves" you or not. JMO

Well, when you consider the host of the "scent loc" show the other day,he wouldnt hunt a stand cause the wind was wrong, you gotta wonder how much he believes in Sc ent Loc.
