Kinda like these suggestions,I hate a treestand thief with a passion,I would hate to think I was even mentioned in a treestand theft. take it down and drag it to his property! that the correct first move But we are selective around here,we do not kill just anything. This guy I am sure does If the ladder stand was on his side of the line and you took it, then you would be a treestand thief. As it is, the stand is on your property, therefore he lost any claim he has to it.

Take it back to him and talk to him. He won't be back. Just because he is a trespasser, don't become a thief. It could be a misunderstanding.

He Had the darn thing chained to a tree.I did get the bottom off and leaned it against the tree and untied all the Ropes he had stabiliizing it.Sure was thick in their Like a jungle not far off the river.Overlooking a big narrow field running adjacent to the river about a half mile long. I plan on nailing some signs up very shortly.

Sounds like you have dealt with the the stand. If it happens again, I would just take a hacksaw with me and take out the middle rungs on the ladder. That will pose a bit of a problem for who ever was using the stand.

I was going to suggest this very thing EXCEPT take the bottom section or 2 off and put at your house. He will either figure it out before seson and forget it or ask if you know about it, THEN you can have the discussion or better yet, he may figure it out opening morning.

If he is unethical about the way he hunts, he is probably that way in many cases. I would take it down and put it to my collection. If he comes and asks you about it and is honest/sorry with you I would give it back. If he is dishonest and rude, KEEP IT!

Do what the good book says... Matthew 18:15-17. I'd take it down and talk with him. Let him know if you find anymore, you'll keep it and let the game warden know about it. It's a sad day when someone messes up your hunting when you pay so much to be able to hunt. One year I was coming up to my stand to only find that someone was already in it. After a little discussion and a small "threat" about prosecution, I never saw him again. It messed up my hunting for the entire year!!

I would leave it up and be in it every chance I got if it is in a real good spot and the wind was right for that spot. But BE NICE when he walks up and ask what are you doing in his stand. Then you can explain things to him.Bet you never see him unless you go in late one morning.
