many here say that hunting shows are the bad and give alist of reasons. I know some shows I could do without but think it is silly but that is just me.
I was very suprised this last weekend at the QDMA convention while watching seminars that there was SEVERAL teenage boys and girls attending the seminars. Some with their parents but most were with their buddies. Very respectful, attentive and one young man asked very good questions during two of the seminars. My wife even made comment on how many young people were there.
There was a few of the vendors that was promoting the latest craze in a bottle or bag but they were not getting the attention that they would at a regular deer expo. Maybe we need to educate instead of criticize. Just my opinion.

Thats good to hear Rich, and I will agree that while some hunting shows are over the top, and many are just advertisements, some still work in getting the gleam in a kids eye. I also think that many kids, especially those that have had a little exposure to the outdoors, realize that every tree doesnt have a big buck behind it, and take them for what they are, ENTERTAINMENT!

But is it not prudent to point out that some entertainment is also serving as propoganda?
Explaining the issues of propoganda is part of education.

BSK, I totally see where your coming from and in many cases I agree its over the top. I have explained the situation to my kids and obviously I know how much of it is fabricated. Like I said, in the end we use it strictly for entertainment. I do agree however BSK that some people are so gullable they could take it for fact and have unrealistic expectations, just like they could from watching hundreds of different tv shows that make things look easy!

And it is the job of the educators to point out how propoganda works so the gullible won't be as gullible. Educators must explain how advertising and propoganda work so that people understand when they're being manipulated.

Don't really care to watch the hunting shows these days. I'll watch TN Wildside with my boys and other outdoor shows, just not any of the hunting shows on VS or other channels.
