By the way, would you rather have a $20 pay raise, or a 20% pay raise?
That would really depend on what the base is.

That would really depend on what the base is. If 2o% is not more than 20 bucks,Id be looking for another job.

That would really depend on what the base is. If 2o% is not more than 20 bucks,Id be looking for another job. It would also depend on whether you are talking about a hour, day, week, etc. and whether or not the 20% and $20 is based on the same time period. Where I work we have an individual that twists the meaning of percentages to support their preconceived ideas on a project or process. When asked about this he will tell you that you can make percentages support any stand you take depending on how you use them.

Percentages are often times used in sales pitches. Rarely are percentages ever used in scientific publications. That is why all the scientific literature presents p-values which demonstrate "significance". In other words, science attempts to prove that there truly is a difference between results.
One of the biggest knocks against some of the popular QDM research is that it uses percentages as their defense. In other words, some of the stuff that is produced in popular literature is merely a sales pitch. I must admit, it sounds convincing but reading between the lines often paints a different picture. The problem is, most folks don't read between the lines.

Unfortunately, many people misunderstand what question a P value answers.
Both raw numbers and percentages can be used to confuse. "A million more!" might sound like a lot, if you didn't know you already had a Billion. But clarifying that a million is less than 1% more than a Billion can put it into perspective.
Some want to confuse, some want to clarify.
By the way, isn't P short for probability, i.e. "percentage" chance?

The problem is, most folks don't read between the lines. Kind of like when a data set claims to show that more older age bucks are killed in one state than another, but upon reading between the lines young bucks are used in the data set. I see what you are saying.

Well, the percentage would be 66% then,I would take 20% more per day ,or week, but probably $20 more per hour.

Why a limit change? It gives us at TnDeer.com something to argue about, that's why... PS: Changes are not always bad... That's probably the most honest answer I've heard. That's what this forum is all about anyhow.
