Will you be hunting private or public land?
If its private find you some good trails and stick you a few salt blocks out and check them every few weeks.
Just try and see where you think the best routes they are taking and put you up a few stands. Try and put up atleast 2 stands for sure to try and help with your wind direction.

Good Luck.

Start scouting early, and cover alot of territory. Work the terrain, and don't put any scent on that might be attractive to bears.

But I agree, there is alot of much better public land besides CNF.

Hunt between where you think the deer are,and where you think they are going to eat.

FOOD, FOOD, FOOD. Talk to the local deer hunters and do some studying on what food sources are used the most by whitetail in your area. Also find some agricultural land with crops that are huntable and look at those as well.
You'll have to put in a lot of walking but it will be well worth it. I would take some good binos and I would sit on some of those fields and food sources to pattern some of the local deer's movement prior to season.
