I agree. Can't get excited for a late september hunt. Leaves have got turn and it has to be cold.

My buddy and I have debated this topic just as we have a similar fishing scenario .... We have decided the anticipation of the bite or the sound/sight of deer get the old heart working overtime

What gets me pumped up? Laying in the bed, before I go to sleep thinking about me up in the stand.. its still dark. And I hear the leaves crunching coming towards me. Sitting there waiting, trying not to breath to heavy cause you know the deer will hear everything.. I cant' wait
Something else, shooting my ML gets me pumped up. smelling the smoke. The cool breeze knowing that fall is here.

I would have to say when I get that feelin that the season has changed from summer to fall. When it starts to cool down and the leafs change along with the fall smell in the air. Thats when I know its time to kill.

Well, first post for me. Thanks for letting me join.
This year, it's the fact that I've just picked up a new Weatherby Vanguard .30-06 with a Redfield Revolution that seems to be cutting paper quite nicely. Can't wait to see what it does to a 10 pointer this fall...I hope.

Sitting in the garage drinking a cold one, looking at the mounts and pics of the deer that have been shot get me going. Also rebuilding arrows and shooting more each day.
