yea i work there, have government clearance and make explosives inside the fence and still have to give get a background check...bunch of idiots sometimes

EVERYONE!!!.... I submitted my application yesterday and I'm stoked. I'm active duty military so I've got a good chance at getting drawn.
I live in Memphis and if my "group" gets drawn we'll be heading that way for a weekend of hunting... obviously only 1 day at Holston though....
I've done a TON of research on this place and I'm very excited.
BRING ON A DROPTINE!

hunted it last year on the 2 day hunt opening weekend of muzzleloader and with 70 hunters i think they killed about 6 does and 1 buck. its true about the huge bucks in there but they all stay around the buildings where u cant hunt. in 2 full days in a tree my party of 3 seen 1 deer while hunting and it was a spike. when they pick u up and take u back to your truck is when u will see all the deer.

That's what I heard about last year that they didnt' do so well.
I haven't asked the guy there.... but I realize baiting is illegal, do they allow you to scent up?
Hopefully we'll get drawn for the late November hunt and the rut will be kicking off. I'm hoping for a nice cold front right before we get there to get them moving.
If they allow scents I'm gonna smell just like a doe that had a long night of drinking cause there will be so much piss on me! HA HA HA

I last hunted there during the early November MZ hunt. I saw no deer from my stand, but when they moved me to another stand during the middle of the day, I saw plenty of monster bucks chasing does out in he middle of open fields. I did not realize there were bucks like that in Tn.

being active duty military does not help your chances at all, nothing but luck goes into getting drawn for this hunt. On a better note i am very lucky for the job i have and get to enjoy looking at these beasts all year 12 hours a day and have seen 2 different drop tine bucks so far in velvet. one double drop and one single drop! I

That's cool, can't wait to see if they show up about 15 yrds from my stand. I'm hoping I get drawn for either a late season, or very early season. Dropping a droptine velvet would be sweet!
