HOLSTON AAP ANNOUNCES 2010 DEER HUNTS Holston Army Ammunition Plant (HSAAP) is now accepting applications for deer hunts to be held on the installation during the 2010 hunting season. Hunters who apply for the 2010 HSAAP hunts should be aware that there have been several changes made to the installation’s hunting program in the past two years. One significant change is that all hunters who hunt on the plant, regardless of their age, are required to show proof of completion of hunter education before hunting. In addition, all hunters who are selected for one of the installation’s hunts will be required to obtain a background check from their local city or county law enforcement agency and provide a copy of their background check with their application. HSAAP will continue the “earn a buck” program during the 2010 hunts and hunters who are drawn for any of the one-day either-sex hunts will be required to harvest, and check-in, a mature doe before being allowed to hunt for a buck. Hunters who harvest a mature doe on their hunt but fail to harvest a buck will automatically be issued a permit for a buck hunt in Nov., 2011. This is a significant change in the program since last year. As usual for HSAAP, only bucks having at least 8 points may legally be harvested by hunters who are issued a buck permit. Individuals interested in obtaining an application for this year’s hunts may call the HSAAP hunting and fishing information line at 423-578-6291 for recorded information on where applications may be picked up in the tri-cities area. Applications are also available online at http://www.holstonwildlife.com or at http://www.tnwildlife.org. Individuals may also request an application by mail by sending a self-addressed stamped envelope to the following address: Holston Army Ammunition Plant, Attn: Deer Hunt Information, 4509 West Stone Drive, Kingsport, Tennessee 37660. Hunts scheduled for 2010 are as follows: Type Date Quota Bag Limit Archery Oct. 2 70 *2 deer, either sex Archery Oct. 3 70 *2 deer, either sex Muzzleloader Nov. 6 45 *2 deer (1 antlerless, 1 buck) Archery Nov. 6 10 *2 deer (1 antlerless, 1 buck) Muzzleloader Nov. 7 45 *2 deer (1 antlerless, 1 buck) Archery Nov. 7 10 *2 deer (1 antlerless, 1 buck) Muzzleloader, Nov. 14 45 *2 deer (1 antlerless, 1 buck) Archery Nov. 14 10 *2 deer (1 antlerless, 1 buck) Shotgun/Muzz. I Work there (actually sitting here now) and the deer in here are already looking good for this year. One that hangs out around my control room window is going to be a monster he would have went well over 140 last year who knows this year.

Is this a separate draw from the normal draw hunts like LBL?

Yes it is an independently drawn hunt. It is not associated with the TWRA draw hunts.

What if you already have a military base clearance with base id, still need a background check?
