I was checking out the moon phases earlier and it looks like the opener will be under a full moon. My favorite hunting time late October- mid November look good though!
How much influence do y'all think the moon has on a mature bucks daytime movement?
Id say a lot especially during the early season when the temps are higher.

It seems to ,but BSK says not if I remember what he says about studies he has done. But sometimes, when I see deer out feeding at weird times, like last week when it was 85 or 90,I saw several deer out at about 2 o clock, came home and checked the game movement predictor,It was right on,happens a lot.

I like hunting during the full moon. For some reason I have had really good luck during that time. I got my big 9 last year during the full moon

I believe the moon has an influence on daylight movement, but it is the weakest influence of all the common influences. Peak of the rut with a cold snap, I don't care what the moon phase is, bucks will be moving during daylight. Get a sudden warm spell and daylight activity drops dramatically, even if the moon phase is perfect.

I always seen to see alot of deer during a full moon. It doesnt matter to me what the moon is doing, I will be in the woods all day when the time is right

I do pay attention to the moon chart, but as little as I get to hunt, I'm there no matter what it says.

As others have said, I'm always interested in moon conditions, but it doesn't affect when I hunt. It's more just a "curiosity" thing.
Besides, after 20+ years of collecting moon data, the difference between the "worst" moon conditions and the "best" moon conditions aren't that great. Under the worst conditions, hunters have averaged a buck seen for every 12.8 hours of hunting time. Under the best conditions, hunters have averaged seeing a buck every 8.2 hours of hunting time. That's a difference but not a massive difference. The "wrong" moon conditions don't shut daylight buck activity down anywhere near as much as the wrong weather conditions (a sudden heat wave).

What was the moon phase today, cuz all of the animals were out feeding in the middle of the day around here, deer and groundhogs included? Any other factors that could effect this abnormal midday movement?

Personally, moon phases have no effect on whether I go hunting or not. Nor do moon phases effect my planned vacation days weeks or months in advance. But I frequently "spur of the moment" decide to either go or not go hunting for lots of other factors, usually weather related, like I might decide it's a better fishing than hunting day.
Peak of the rut with a cold snap, I don't care what the moon phase is, bucks will be moving during daylight. I believe more than any other single factor: TEMPERATURE is what effects daytime deer movement.
Unfortunately, we cannot plan our vacation days weeks or months in advance to coincide with only the days with temperatures most conducive to deer movement.
And TEMPERATURE is not just this big factor DURING the rut peak. On those rare days when an early cold front comes in late October, those "pre-rut" days can produce some great daylight buck movement, very comparable to peak rut.
But give me a warmer than normal late October day, and I'd usually rather be fishing.
