What is the funniest thing you have ever seen a deer do while you were hunting?
I was hunting a patch of woods in Giles County. I was walking along and got really close to a doe who was evidently bedding. Upon my approach, she looked and looked, apparently unaware that I was a human, then she realized "there's a dead cat on the line somewhere." She jumped straight up in the air about 7 or 8 feet, snorted, kicked, wheezed, passed gas, then headed for the hills like an out of control locomotive!!!

I wouldn't consider it funny, but one time I watched a doe crawl across a cotton field, just beneath the top of the stalks to get past a friend at the other end of the field. I just happened to see the doe enter the field and then disappear. I could see the stalks moving and every once in a while she would lift her head up and take a peek. When she got to the other side, she simply stood up and walked in to the woods.
My friend was about 200 yards away from me and I guess she saw him or winded him and not me. She crossed about midway of the field. truly amazing sight.

A couple yrs back, a spike appeared at a mineral lick about 30yds. from my stand. After nibbling for awhile he started coughing his head off...he carry'd on like that for 15min. or so...sounded exactly like a human coughing, and it was loud...another spike show'd up shortly thereafter....since then, I've not been afraid of coughing while in my stand...I'm very alert though, after doing so.

Was hunting a power line a few years back and a group of 5 does came out at about 30 yds from me,and started browseing around and 2 of them got frisky and started playing a little, well the bigger doe reared up on her hind legs and and kinda threw her front left down at the other does head and poped it right in the top of the head as she came down,It made a loud popping sound,I heard it clear as day,I know that would of probably knocked a man out,the doe that got hit kinda shook her head and left that deer alone..I kinda just chuckled to myself..

I got off work early one day during bow season to hunt during the evening. I had just walked up to the base of a tree and took my climber off my back and leaned it against the tree I was going to climb. I was in the process of tying my bow to the pull up rope on my stand when i looked up and saw a small 4-pointer walking thru the woods with his nose to the ground like a dog. The small buck kept doing this until he got within 10 feet of me.
The deer suddently looked up at me and his eyes got very large like animals did in cartoons when I was a kid. He then jumped straight up and wheeled around faster than I could believe. While turning around, the deer fell to the ground and kicked leaves for a few seconds like he was having trouble getting on his feet. The buck then ran off to about 30 yards away and stood there and snorted for probably another five minutes before he slowly walked away.

My nephew had shot a doe right at dark.We were hunting the same field.I started walking over to him at dark.I was watching his flashlight as I walked up to him.A fawn saw his light too and ran right up to him while he was looking at the ground for blood. It scared my nephew so bad that he jumped back .
All I could see was my nephews light going in circles and this little deer going in and out of the beam.He ran the deer off several times but it kept running back up and jumping right in front of him out of the dark.
That was the year ehd was so bad and we saw a bunch of spotted fawns that had little or no fear of humans.

i shot a doe early one morning. a little later a spike comes along and sees the doe laying there. he comes over and starts hooking her with his spikes trying to "wake her up" i suppose. he got frantic trying to get her up when he saw me start down the tree. he finally walked off over the hill but when i returned with help, he was back.
this past season, i saw all 4 legs slip out from under a 4pt and he went down flat on his side. he got up looking embarassed looking to see if the other 4pt had seen him. he started walking toward me still looking back to see if his buddy had seen him but he was long gone. he saw me up in the tree and had a look on his face like "you saw that didn't you".

Years ago, my son was hunting his last "juvi" when he was 16. He had hunted for years by himself during regular seasons and we were on our own private land so I got him in his stand and let him hunt without me "being able to take immediate control" of his weapon.
Okay sue me!
We had 2 way radios, so he could call me and I went back to the truck a few hundred yards away, but still within "earshot" of him shooting.
I laid the radio on the dash, stretched out in the truck to relax/snooze and wait.
A couple hours later I'm not sure if I heard something or just "sensed" something. But I raised up from laying down in the seat and started looking around.
Standing behind the truck, was this decent 4 pointer. He was just standing there looking things over and trying to figure out what I was doing sitting in the truck I guess.
After eyeballing each other a little while, he just ambled back off in the woods.
I thought it was pretty funny when I told my son about it later.
My son wasn't nearly as amuzed, since he didn't see anything that morning!
