It would depend on the area..I have killed 2 4.5 yr olds and neither was close to 120...The biggest netted 112...This was in Morgan co east tn..

For the entire state of TN? Maybe 115 gross.
The "average" will vary by region and by habitats within regions. I think another factor effecting the average "living" 4 1/2 is the amount of antler high-grading within an area.
Scores per age class should run a little lower in East TN counties, a little higher in West TN counties.

should be around 120's but could be higher depending on nutrition. Then again on that same note could be less than 120.
sorry had to edit, didn't see the "tn" in the question.

Where I hunt at in decatur county. We have been seeing 130's for our 3.5. That is for the past 4 years.

I would say statewide average would be around 125 to 130. But would vary greatly by region and as Wes Parrish mentioned by high grading, example would be somewhere like P.I. and Fort Campbell I would be willing to say that a 4.5 at those two places ie(1 buck limit) could gross B&C. But a 4.5year old in polk county maybe would break 100, JMO

i would expect a 4 1/2 year old buck where i hunt in west tn, mainly stewart Co, to be 140+ Way off. Stewart is much better on the averages than most, but a gross in the 120's would be more realistic.
Keep in mind that to average 130, there must be a 110 for every 150. I see lots of 110-class 4 1/2's in Stewart, but relatively rare is one in the 140's.
Again, I'm talking about "living" bucks that are 4 1/2, not just the ones that get killed.
And, yes, I realize that some of the places you hunt in Stewart are better than average for Stewart --- but doubt above 130.
Maybe Alan P. can post the 4 1/2-yr-old average scores (of hunter harvested bucks) for President's Island. That island should produce way above average for TN, yet I'd speculate even the hunter-harvested 4 1/2's don't gross above 130 there.
