No there wont be leftover tags The remaining tags will be drawn from the next highest number. Come on guys this system is not that hard too figure out. LOL Personally ithink it is the fairest way to do it I just wish it wouldnt be so long to wait to get drawn.
I agree MB. This IS the fairest way to do it. I know it may take years but eventually I will get my turn. That's better than "luck of the draw" where some one could possibly get drawn every year and my name never come up.

I've got it figured out. What I can't figure is only drawing people from the maximum preference points pool. I thought the whole reason to have that is to give preference to people with more points, not exclude those with less.
there are more people with max points than there are permits. THAT is why it takes max points to get a permit.
i don't understand the difficulty people are having. you don't get a permit=1 point. for every year you don't get a permit, you get a point. if you go 10 years without a permit, you will have 10 points.

Yea i work with a guy who drew it twice in 4 years before the point system. I drew it two years ago so i am back to accumulating points. I dont mind waiting just hope it doesnt take twenty years to get to go back.

I don't get what everyone is having difficulty with either. You don't go into a place with a line and cut right to the front do you? There are only 80 permits and everyone wants to hunt there, so this is the fairest way. You have to get in line and wait your turn if you want to hunt there. I would love to see them take 5 tags out and draw at random, like someone else said in this thread, but technically it would not be fair to the guys that have been waiting for 6 to 10 years.

Personally, I think people that live in the same county as a WMA should get first priority every year.

Well,I've put in every year they have had a hunt at P.I., and hope, but still dont expect to get drawn this year. But I'm getting closer. It's simple, the ones who REALLY want it have given up any chance at all other hunts, that's the way it is. If a person really wants it, it is going to take some time, just like many quality units out in the western states. at least you have 4 points, that's much better than 0.

Correction, there are only 50 spots for the actually island and 30 spots for the Ensley unit. So, it actually might be even longer than what I said earlier if most of these max points group are only putting in for the island part(50 spots)!
