There are deer there, you just have to find them. parts of it are covered up with people, other parts hardly ever see a human. There are a few flat places, but they get too much pressure. there are also places too steep to climb. generally big deer.

Very good deer densities in the areas which have diverse habitats, especially around reclaimed strip mines. There are plenty of big deer, plenty of small deer, and a few true monsters as well. It is pretty mountainous, there are other areas around it which are meaner, but Royal Blue can be as mean as you want it to be.

If you want to kill a monster buck in East TN, then the mountains are where to do it, put in the time and hunt extremely smart. Scout hard, but intelligently.

I hunt there quite often and have gotten several really nice bucks. Got a 156" 183lb 12pt and a 147" 172lb 10pt a few years ago. It's not too hard to see deer, but if you want a trophy you will have to work your tail off and get into some really nasty areas. Better bring some friends and a bunch of rope to get your deer out!

I like the place and have always had good luck there. I've killed deer on just about every section of it, as well as turkeys and grouse.

pick out an area and get to know it and you shouldn't have any problem finding deer..

watch for snakes tho, there are some big rattlers and copperheads there...

Pretty well sums it up, it can be great if your willing to do the work required! I have hunted the same mtns for years all across Gobey, New River, Brimstone, etc. and its all in what you make of it.

Short mountain on the East side and Adkins/Turley mtn on the West side. Go west on the Howard Baker highway until you see a cell tower on the left next to the highway. There is a gravel road there that goes up the mtn to a gate. From there, you can walk as far as you feel like. You will probably see some good elk in there too!

Have hunted there the last three years and always expected to see more people than I actually did. I hunt many different spots and have never really had any issues with people walking up on me or finding places to park or hunt. It is a huge area and you should have no problem finding an area to hunt by yourself. You just have to go past the first spot that looks good.

From what I have seen a man will have to be very deticated, and persistant to hunt this land. That being said if I didn't have leases out in L I would hunt it hard. Gotta be some booners up in them mountains.

Always try to hunt uphill. Have had deer in my scope and not pulled trigger due to fact that there would be no way to get it out of there. Better hope that any deer you kill drops dead in its tracks because if it runs downhill you may never be able to track, locate or get it out of there.
