I'm going to have to do that. The aresol spray is expensive and getting hard to find.

I did the same thing a few years ago and we actually spray our whole camp and even have sprayed my back yard, works great and its cheap.

Yep, Bought some to do the same. With a wife and daughter you can never kill enough bugs and when it comes to going to the cabin. Everything I can do to encourage them to go is good.

It works great! Watched one climb up stik's pant leg. It didn't get far before it got wobbly and died.

How much 10% permethrin do you mix in a quart of water to end up with .5% percent spray solution?

If my math is correct, mix 1 part of permethrin(10%) to 20 parts of water to get a solution that is .5%. So basically 1 ounce of permethrin(10%) for every 20 ounces of water.

For one quart (32 oz), one would add (32/20) = 1.6 ounces of permethrin(10%) to get a .5% spray solution.

Can those of you who mix this yourselves verify if his math is correct. Am wanting to mix some and would like to know exactly what is the correct formulation for say a quart spray bottle. Would not 1 oz of permethrin to 20 oz water make a 5% solution I believe they are saying to use a .5% solution. Have not been in math class for 25 years so maybe my math is not correct. Please somebody give the exact recipe so I dont poison myself and forget what little math I do remember.

pcrc,

I will try to explain my logic here:

1 to 20 will make a (1/20) = .05 = 5% solution, but then one has to remember that the original permethrin solution from tractor supply or co-op is only 10% permethrin, not 100% permethrin. This makes the final solution needed = (1/20) * 10% = .05 * 10% = .05 *.10 = 0.005 = .5%.

I am 99% sure this math is correct!

with 10% permethrin-
1 oz. perm to 1 oz water=5%
2 oz. water to that = 2.5%
4 oz. water to that= 1.25%
8 oz. water to that=.625%

OK, I see now. I did not take into account that the original permethrin was starting out at 10% strength. But would it still not be easier for someone who has already mixed it up and used it with success to just say "add x-amount of 10% permethrin to x-amount of water."
