When I hunt an area I haven't been in for a couple of years and get an early start in the pitch black from the truck to get me to my tree, via GPS and a flashlight, I want to slip in with a quiet stand. No need to broadcast to the entire drainage, basin, creek, bedding ground, mast ridge that a killing machine has arrived.

That stand on my back would be a Summit ...the Titan. The only sound better than hearing a deer in his death "kick" is the words to my hunting buddy on radio or cell phone, "big buck down".......

Not saying what's best, but what works best for me out of the ones I have tried is my Lone Wolf Climber. I love it.

Started with a Baker in the late 70's. Absolute deathtrap! Went from that to Amackers to Loggy's to Ol'Mans to Api's to Summitts. Actually had a home made version in between that was pretty decent. I think the API's and the Summitts are probably the best 2 of that bunch. When I climb a tree now a days tho it is in a TreeWalker. IMO the best out there right now.

I have checked out the tree walker a few times and they seem a little high on the prices... The seating (Net) and stand is a lot like the Ole Man tree stands... but cost a lot more..JMO

I have a treewalker and a couple summits. The treewalker will not slip vertically, but is less "locked in" horizontally. The summits will not slip on any tree i've tried, except for once or twice when i unknowingly had the cable resting on knots. They are both similarly comfortable, though the treewalker requires the purchase of a back pad for maximum comfort. The treewalker allows plenty of space for maneuverability while hunting, as do larger summit models. the summit's attachment system is quicker and better in every way. The treewalker's cable is covered with hard plastic tubing which is quite noisy when climbing, also, unlike the summits, which have an internal cable locking mechanism, the treewalker requires the insertion of locking metal pins, of which i've broken one. I have the deluxe version of treewalker stand which allows several configurations for bow and gun hunting. The extra pieces and attachment hardware are rather weak; for example, some screws have plastic tightening knobs which are easily broken, and the threaded insertions in the metal tubing are easily deformed. Perhaps more is to be expected of a stand at its price, but when properly set up the treewalker really is a stand for all day hunting, and likely the safest on the market. The summits i have (razor and titan) are solid and dependable, and comfortable enough for all day sittings as well. I recommend both summit and treewalker, with preference for summit's mobility and attachment system, and slight preference for treewalker for climbing safety and all day hunting.

Without having tried every stand on the market, its hard to say which is best. But, having used a few different brands - I am super satisfied with Summitts. I have had a Viper and now own a couple of Goliaths. Comfortable, solid, lightweight, super easy to put on the tree, quiet. The only thing I would change - it would be nice to have the ability to change the angle once you are up in the tree.
