Nothing wrong with different strokes for different folks.
The problems and conflicts are stemming from unrealistic expectations, and then hunters (failing to meet those expectations) start blaming other groups of hunters.
IMO, the greatest single source of the unrealistic expectations has been created by hunting shows on TV (and DVDs) and advertisements for specialty food plot seed on those shows, i.e. if you plant this seed, you'll start killing monster bucks!
I've personally sorted thru what's realistic for me, and have never been happier as a deer hunter.

I wouldn't set my sites too low either. I think a Pope & Young buck is very doable in Tennessee today.
I'm sure there is a substantial difference in what the numbers might reflect, your chances of killing a P&Y class buck to be and what your actual chances are. Many, many hunters never have bucks scored or attempt to make an entry in P&Y. Ive arrowed 3 on public land in recent years that would make the P&Y cut none of which have ever had a official tape measure laid on them and I'm certain several on this site have as well.
Now I would agree that a B&C class buck in Tn is probably a once in a life time buck and may be unrealistic expectations.
Ill add that I believe leading by example and posting pics of trophy bucks when we are successful, especially bucks killed on public land goes a long way toward encouraging other hunters to practice trigger restraint.

That makes it sound like a hunter has a poor chance, but that's probably for the average hunter. I'm not sure of the exact figure, but I think I've heard something like 10% of the hunters kill 80%-90% of the trophies. So, if that's true it really turns the success percentage around if you happen to be in that lower percentile.

Thats why you should set realistic goals based on your area/lease or opportunity and shoot what makes you happy and not what you may be dreaming of. i shoot bucks that have at least 8 points and a spread of at least 14 inches and most of the time 16...as a rule of thumb. If the deer has the spread but short tines of only three inches and spindly i pass on it. i can look at the deer and evaluate whether i will be happy with killing it and once i have decided i do not regret the decision. This works for me and i am one happy camper!

So I am supposed to feel slighted because of this guys opinion? BS, I enjoy hunting mature bucks, period. I am fine if I end a season without killing a buck, and am fine going several years without killing one. I have matured past the point of having to kill something in order to feel successful. Fortunately it seems I have the skills needed to consistently kill mature bucks every year, and in the past few years have taken 2-4 each season.
Maybe it's just me but this guy sounds like he is more concerned with how he personally feels rather then how others feel. In other words trying to convince others from a different angle that hunting for mature bucks is a waste of time.

I agree, plus Tn/Ga is not the only places on earth to hunt, there are no walls up around Tn.
Honestly,if I dont see one I want to shoot all year,I figure its just one of those things, doesnt make me feel bad at all,the "kill" is just icing on the cake to all the other things I like about hunting, plus I always seem to kill a few does each year with my bow.
I would feel worse killing a small buck than not killing one at all.

IMO, the reason that this guy ended many seasons disappointed is not the fault of the game being too small for his goals or anything else other than his thought process.
I have nine deer on my wall. I am going into my 36th season as a deer hunter.....that comes out to only 25% of the years that I have hunted did I shoot a deer that I deemed "wall worthy", and none would make PY or BC.....
Using this guy's mindset, 75% of my deer seasons ended in disappointment........
I assure you that if any of my deer seasons ended in disappointment, then it was because it ENDED and not because of the lack of harvest success.....
IMO, too many hunters look at a season in terms of harvest.
It's a shame that alot of these hunters can't see the forest for the trees........
It's fine to set your goals high. I never shoot a buck smaller than 100 inches and most times wait for one 120 plus, and I may even up the ante abit from now on since taking that 148 two years ago. But if I decide to shoot a 100 incher, then fine....
We all need goals in our lives. Just because we don't always meet or exceed these goals does not mean that our time was wasted. If you think that your season was a waste simply because your goals were not met, then maybe you should sit back and try to determine what your goal should be.....
My first goal is success. Success, in my eyes, can be defined as lessons learned, enjoyment and satisfaction in doing it the right way.
If your success is ONLY defined by someone else's standards (PY/BC) then maybe you deserve to feel disappointed....
