Foothills WMA and deer hunting??

Has anyone ever or known of anyone that has deer hunted the foothills wma in blount co? I know the terrain is tough and it is walk in only with limited access but there is a ton of acerage and with it being so close to cades cove, has to hold some studs.

I don't know anything about that area, but if there are few deer
there and it is remote and rugged, there is probably a "monster"
buck in there somewhere.

Not many deer in those big woods. How about bears? Pretty good bear population.
Put me on one diehard.I want a bear skin rug but don't want to have to go to maine or canada to get it.lol I would like to bowhunt it for bear if I had a clue what I was doing.

Who would I need to talk to within the twra? Im sure there is a biologist out there that could answer the question. I remember a few years ago in the TN Sportsman Magazine where they did an article talikng about it being a good late season hot spot. Im assuming that is because of the bear population but I'm not giving up on it regardless!

It's not as close to Cades Cove as you might think. And I suspect that the bad boys in Cades Cove don't have to go very far when the rut comes in. They have an endless supply of (white) tail right there in the cove. I drive the perimeter of the WMA and foothills parkway fairly often and I have seen exactly zero deer there. That's not to say they are not there - they are just not thick. I am ten minutes from the Foothills WMA but when I head out it's Roane County or some TVA spots where I know there are more deer.

RAFI im going to give bear hunting a shot this season myself.my son went last year with Biggun4214.maybe he can give us some pointers  I really want to go too.It will be fun hunting bear just wish I knew a little more about it.

We need to get a group together and go after them.would be fun.I would be excited to see a bear.

I live in blount county and have hunted it some. it's best before bear season b4 the dogs chase everything within 10 miles into the park. it's hard hunting. when u do see a buck, it is usually a good one. i've never killed there but i have a friend who hunts it pretty hard and usually takes one Big deer each year off of it.
