The ole nugget..... I have shot a deer that I could drag with one arm without breaking a sweat.... It happens if you have hunted long enough and started deer hunting at a young age... If you make T.V. shows about hunting then you probably haven't while filming...

Nope.....there is no reason to kill a yearling deer
Plenty of reasons.and fawns are not yearlings.

I let a lot of buttons walk last year but on the last hunt in Jan when it was 10 degrees and the deer were not moving I decided to shoot any deer I saw because I wanted to make some new jerky.I shot a 50 lbs doe in the snow and it was as much or more fun than some of the other 7 bigger deer from earlier that year.
Funny how I would have let the same deer go earlier in the year but on that hunt I just decided to take it.thats how i hunt.I enjoy the hunt more than the size of the trophy most of the time.

Kind of the way I hunt from season to season... It depends on several factors that have to do with time and chances.. If my freezer is full and the horns are at the taxidermy shop then I will let some walk... If I'm not in that position then let it fly.. I do enjoy hunting shows but I realize its playing in my 67 inch T.V.

In my area, most fawns have lost their spots by opening of bow season. But since I no longer bow hunt (start hunting opening of MZ season) the chances of seeing a spotted fawn are very, very low.
Back when we were on a mission to slaughter does, we shot every female deer we saw, regardless of age. A female was a female. If it was a female fawn, boom!

I never have and never will. I spend too much time preparing and planning for deer season to be shooting fawns.

i agree 100 percent mossy oak. hurts the perception of hunting and a complete waste of time

i can't agree with that.i have talked to more people who get upset about people hunting for large racks than people hunting for food even if its a small deer people are usually ok if they know they shot it because they wanted the meat.
