I am thinking about putting in for a hunt there as a change of pace from the regular WMA's I hunt.

What advice can anyone provide about this place?

I had just moved to TN about 3 years ago and I applied for a hunt there. I was excited to be drawn - until I got there opening morning. It looked more like a parade than a hunt. There were people everywhere. My son and I left late that morning to escape the crowd. We stopped by the check station to find out how many deer had been killed and they said they had yet to see the first harvest.

I hunted this in the past and I will probably put in for a hunt there this year. When I hunted it you had to get away from the roads to get away from the crowd. I saw several deer the last time I hunted it but I didn't have a shot on any of them. Where I hunted I did not see any other hunters besides the ones that were in my party. On the quota hunts you should be able to get away from the crowd.

I hunted there last year. Beautiful hardwood stands, but big woods all the same. I saw lots of turkey and no deer in two days. it was my first time there, so i had to just wing it. it was a laid back hunt and enjoyable time. if you put in for the early archery hunt you will most likely get drawn. I think they killed about 10 deer in 3 days, out of 500 hunter's, but there is a very friendly crowd there.
