If PI did not exist I wouldn't put in for a WMA hunt and I wouldn't buy Sportsman licenses.

Id just spend the years that it takes to get a PI permit hunting some of the huge tracts of full access public ground in TN that holds very nice bucks.

I would do the same thing I do now, and put in for a draw hunt that I can draw every year or every other year and get to know the place like the back of my hand.

Yep Exactly right, although Ft Campbell is about as good as it gets, minus the hassle of getting a permit for the same area on consecutive days!

Haven't you guys heard?? They had a massive deer die off on President's Island this spring and haven't seen a single deer or track on the island in months! I wouldn't waste my time applying this year, even if you have 4 or more preference points!!

PI is sorta like the LOTO for me Id like to get drawn but I never get around to buying a ticket. LOL
My focus is pretty much on 1 piece of public land it probably doesn't have the concentration of big bucks PI has but Id say the chance of taking a B&C buck with a bow is greater and that's my goal.
Yuchi would probably be my second choice just because I could be there in a matter of minutes and Ive seen some big bucks in that river bottom.

There are several places I hunt with a firearm in Tennessee (and Kentucky ) most every year . . . . places that I would NOT give up for a small chance in a drawing for a weekend bowhunt on President's Island.
But as is, in the context of the TWRA drawing, don't see that I have much to loose by just keeping my priority points growing towards PI. Part of the appeal of PI to me is the fact that by the time of the year that hunt is held (in early December), it will be one of the very few places in TN that hasn't already experienced a lot of hunting and had most of the annual buck harvest completed in the prior 3 weeks.
Thus, getting drawn for the buck hunt on PI is akin to getting drawn for the first-ever hunt on an area that hasn't ever been hunted before, exciting, if you're a bowhunter. And the prospects of that will remain so long as PI's annual hunting (for antlered bucks) continues to be only a single weekend annually (for a small group of hunters), and that limited to archery tackle as the only legal weapons.
But seeing the popularity and appeal of PI to so many hunters, I wonder why TWRA doesn't do something similar on another WMA or two?

I would rather hunt private property in northern Williamson County than PI.

Ha! Your chances of being able to hunt northern Williamson are slimmer than PI!
