the lease manager (timber company employee) is the one that suggested that this site would be great for a food plot and stand location.

Well I'm glad that rukiddin and smstone22 are on the side of the loggers. Yes it is a business but I spent a lot of time and money (which by the way I'm not a rich man) and they had no regard for me or my efforts. The land owner (a big timber company) sure did cash my check quickly. I am rebuilding the food plot and it will most likely happen again, but that is a choice I am making. So until it is your money or time don't ridicule me for being angry!!!!!!
I don't think I was ridiculing you. Although you spent your money and time on the plot, they still have a business to run. Thats what timber companies do. Leases are just a benefit to owning the land. Maybe you were unaware that they use openings such as food plots for operations? I'm not sure, but either way that is an "assumed" risk when leasing land from anyone. Most timber companies really could care less who leases there land, and if you go too public with bad opinions about them, you may lose the entire lease altogether.
I probably have never lost the amount of money you have, but we have had loggers damage food plots/stands that I had invested some money and labor into creating. I found out real quick that the area created from the harvested timber will be 10x greater for deer hunting and overall wildlife habitat than a food plot will ever be. About a two year old cutover is unbelievable in the rut on a cold morning and the browse created is phenominal. Glass half full type of guy I reckon. I would hunt a logged area over a food plot everytime if given the option. Sorry your pissed.

then remind him of that and maybe he will refund you your expences, or knock that much of off next years least price

Most any clearing you find in the woods started as log yard anyway. That is usually the case, particularly if you're leasing hunting land from a timber company.
I've been "upset" several times when loggers messed up one of my food plots. But at the end of the day, I can't be angry with them. The food plots they've used for log yards were old log yards that I had made into food plots.
The way it usually happens, the best place (sometimes the only place for a good distance) for a log yard just happens to be a great place for a food plot (if cleared). The loggers clear a flat area, making a log yard. Then someone like me comes along a plants a food plot in THEIR log yard. At some point in the future, the loggers will be back, and will likely need to use that same spot as a log yard. Not always like this, but very common.

deer hunting, deer hunters, and food plots to anyone who owns/grows timber as an investment will basically always put all others on the "back burner" they just do not really care when it comes to anything outside the timber that they are focused on.
there are no telling how many stands that have been destroyed at Chaney the past 30-40 years as we logged the property. not a single stand if it was in the way of a skidder was ever given a single thought and they will never be considered in the future. its just the way that loggers roll
at the same time as others have posted a person will usually have a real nice spot for a food plot after the loggers are finished. also the skidder trails end up being great areas to hunt

IT's called respect and 99% of loggers are very respectful. We had one crew on us in Wayne County that were not. The other crew was awesome.

IT's called respect and 99% of loggers are very respectful. Most of my experiences with loggers have been fine, too. They've left a lot of trees standing because of a ladder stand on it, they've removed some ladder stands before cutting the tree (and left the stand laying there undamaged), and created far more new places for food plots than they've messed up.
Most loggers are just like any other working fellow, just trying to do a decent job and make a living.
