I appreciate all the comments. The green browse is starting to come up in the woods where they did there cutting and I turned the ground and did my first prep on the food plot this morning. Saw 5 deer and 2 hens with this years hatch, so life is coming back. All is good in "The 100 Acre Woods"

Yep, remember it is business first and the nice food plot areas allways make the perfect place for a log langing and they allways use it.....Deal with it and go on and just know it is part of the process and no use in making waves about it and getting them ticked at you. I just clean it up when they leave if they dont scrape off all of the top soil in the process or go and find a better location.

They at least cleaned most of the debris off the site and push it to the back of the site, I think it may funnel the deer a little easier from that end to the shooting lane

How can people be mad at the loggers over this? Post things like flatten their tires, calling them idiots and what not, I mean really ? When you lease land it isnt like you own it, too many leasers get that idea. Having a yard already cleared and accessible saves the loggers time and work, which in return increases profit for the logger and return on investment for the landowner(who has paid many thousands of dollars for the land). Most any clearing you find in the woods started as log yard anyway. It just amazes me to see some of the posts like this, I cant blame landowners for not wanting to lease to hunters.

Funny logger story. Several years ago they were cutting some of our lease and we wnt and met with them. We had one tree that we had killed numerous deer out of so we asked if they could leave it and the ladder stand that was attached too it. They said sure and marked the tree. They left it alright but a bulldozer had backed over it and made a u out of our deer stand and killed the tree. LOL

If you have a tree you want left and in good shape you'd better mark the ones around it not to be cut as well....otherwise it will turn into a bumper as they skid logs by it.

It just amazes me you see nothing wrong with messing up a plot someone worked on so hard. The loggers have plenty of equipment that they could clear another loading dock easily. They can make a loading dock faster than the average hunter can go back and fix his messed up plot.

But like most things in life these guys were rude and lazy and decided to take the easy way and let others worry about cleaning up thier mess.We had loggers on our land several years ago. They left trash everywhere. They cut tress across the only roads we could drive down and rather than clear the tree tops they left them to block the roads so we couldn't get in to hunt. They logged all during gun season and didn't care they blocked us out of spots.

guess I'm different than most people. If I saw a nice food plot I would go out of my way to keep from messing it up even it caused me a little more work.

I agree completely. Logging is a business, and most all businesses stay successful by saving the most money they can. Many don't realize the cost of just the fuel alone. Then you have man hours, and your also working on a tight schedule. I hate to say it, but I would have done the same thing. Your hobby vs. my cost of operation for a business that is just now beginning to pick by up. Business will win every time. Trash, tree tops and trees blocking roads are a different story, but using a food plot for a loading deck would not bother me at all.

Well I'm glad that rukiddin and smstone22 are on the side of the loggers. Yes it is a business but I spent a lot of time and money (which by the way I'm not a rich man) and they had no regard for me or my efforts. The land owner (a big timber company) sure did cash my check quickly. I am rebuilding the food plot and it will most likely happen again, but that is a choice I am making. So until it is your money or time don't ridicule me for being angry!!!!!!

Just curious, but did you discuss these thingt with the landowner pursuant to your lease agreement? If the land was cleared already when you put in the food plot, what was it designated for?
