Where did I say hunting with dogs is unethical? Instead, I CLEARLY stated I have no ethical problems what-so-ever with hunting with dogs. The only problem I had was with your argument. You said a person can't pass ethical judgements until they've tried something. I disagree. I believe I can accurately pass ethical judgements without trying some things. Not everything, but certainly some things. Do you have to cheat on your wife to understand that cheating is unethical?

Perfect comment TN RDG RNR. I agree completely.

We used to "paper" the center of a truck tire and give it a good roll. Not only were we good at shootin runnin deer, but we were good at shootin runnin deer while "runnin" them with airboats, wheel buggies, and tracks. Killing runnin deer is an art where I'm from. It's amazing how deadly a shotgun loaded with buckshot can be in the hands of a "cracker". That BH guy needs to leave the "runnin" shots to those of us who can shoot.

I understand what you are saying but let me break it down, my point:

I am only referring to hunting and no life choices they are between you and God. I have no say so in that.

As far as hunting goes:
I want to know how you or anyone can make a fair assessment of a hunting style if you have never tried that style?
I prefer some styles over others but will not con-dim a person for a legal and ethical style of hunting. I'm not saying you con-dim them either but I find it hard for someone to judge a style of hunting without trying it first that's all. Remember this is for argument sake....We all here on the site seem to get tunnel vision sometimes and stick to our guns...We all need to think outside the box now and then....BSK, your still one of my hero's... ;\)

That's easy for some hunting styles. For instance, I feel completely safe in saying "canned hunts" are unethical, even though I've never been involved in one.

And, not matter what you say, shooting at running deer is NOT ethical.....IMO.

Also, I don't shoot sitting doves or running quail.......that's just not what it's about.

The Late Jack O'Connor & many others think different.

Just don't surpass your skill level with your particular weapon, and you will be A>OK...

I agree, there some situations where its not bad at all. Every person is different, with different skills.

And just how would someone PRACTICE shooting at running deer? How would someone get good at it without missing and wounding many deer while honing his shooting skills....?

just curious......

BH

You would practice by growing up shooting at running deer while hunting... One key factor you don't mention, maybe because of your lack of knowledge of deer hunting with dogs. You have a better chance of recovering or killing the animal since you have dogs trailing it. If you wound one in TN you better have a blood trail or get lucky...JMO

Great post FH and deer hunting is supposed to be fun...
