That's easy; the debate over why KY is filling the B&C recordbooks and TN is not. And that debate covers many individual topics: buck limits, habitat quality, gun season length, soils, etc.

I agree. And it will continue to be the #1 debate until we all can agree on the fact KY's soil grows more antler mass than most of TN's soil does.

Buck limit and I think it is a good thing to debate. That is how we learn. I also think that sooner or later it will be lowered- for good or bad. I just don't see any state keeping a 3 buck limit in the age of trophy hunting. Especially with amount of out of state dollars big antlers can bring in. Once again, for good or bad.

I'd have to say the buck limit, as of lately anyway. As to why...? I'd have to say for more trophy animals. jmo

Buck limits, because some folks watch a little to much TV an arent happy with thier hunting success and if the limit is ever lowered to 1 buck, season lengths will be next. Then lottery drawings for big game tags and the state will be broke down into 50 or so zones to make sure the pressure on deer and buck kill is evenly distributed.

Check out a few of the northern states such as North Dakota.

thats really not how it works with the lower limit states, KY for one has increased its gun seasons, was 7 days, then 9, know its about 16, all prime time rut, one reason they are killing bigger deer. their MZ season started with a 2 day season, now its has a second late season thats 7 or 9 days. That 2 day is one of the earliest around. Bow season starts by Labor Day and goes until Jan 3 week, longest one I know of. And most of this changes have happened in the last 10-12 years.

States like ND, SD, CO, don't have near the number of whitetails that we do, but the locals don't really worry that much to do due the other big game they have to hunt.

Everyone talks about Illinois, they get to kill 2 bucks, have shorter seasons for gun, 2-3day, and 1-4 day, and you only get to hunt 2 of the three seasons, they ain't crying either, and can't use center fire rifles. They love what they have and the deer that goes with it.

Yes the 3 buck limit does seem to be the biggest talk, but I don't think changes it will reduce our hunting, it didn't here it TN when we dropped the Mega Buck number limit down. and that happened not all to long ago.

the soil maps show that only part of KY has the good soil

the racks on the bucks i have killed in KY are not any bigger than the ones i kill here, except for the ones that are a year or 2 older ;\)

Buck limits would have to top the list I guess. Some seem to think it will magically create big bucks for them to kill. Iowa for instance has a 3 buck limit in some cases, Illinois 2, etc. I dont think the buck limit will solve many probs for those wanting it lowered. TN has mature bucks living here now, changing how many Joe is allowed to kill, will not suddenly make those existing 100% bigger, or will it make them any dumber!
