Baiting. KY vs. TN and other states that allow baiting. The sale of deer corn and other baiting products at many stores.

Worrying about regulations to fit some hunters "needs". Personally, I don't worry too much about regulations. I can hunt and do my personal thing, within the prescribed regulations. If they "prescribed" that no buck could be killed in Tennessee for one hunting season, I would go with it, but I might not like it.
There would be bucks killed for very sure in that season, but I wouldn't be one of the killers. I would try to kill a mature doe and scout for the next season, and try to figure out what the difference will be regarding the surviving mature bucks.

I'd have to go along with buck limits and all it's tributaries.

do you mean this entire site, or just the SERIOUS forum?
SERIOUS forum........limits and maybe baiting.
the REST of the site......whether baiting should be allowed at OUTBACK and if COUGARS do exist there?
lol

The #1 debate?
That's easy; the debate over why KY is filling the B&C recordbooks and TN is not. And that debate covers many individual topics: buck limits, habitat quality, gun season length, soils, etc.

I agree. And it will continue to be the #1 debate until we all can agree on the fact KY's soil grows more antler mass than most of TN's soil does.

Buck limit and I think it is a good thing to debate. That is how we learn. I also think that sooner or later it will be lowered- for good or bad. I just don't see any state keeping a 3 buck limit in the age of trophy hunting. Especially with amount of out of state dollars big antlers can bring in. Once again, for good or bad.

TN RDG RNR
thats really not how it works with the lower limit states, KY for one has increased its gun seasons, was 7 days, then 9, know its about 16, all prime time rut, one reason they are killing bigger deer. their MZ season started with a 2 day season, now its has a second late season thats 7 or 9 days. That 2 day is one of the earliest around. Bow season starts by Labor Day and goes until Jan 3 week, longest one I know of. And most of this changes have happened in the last 10-12 years.
States like ND, SD, CO, don't have near the number of whitetails that we do, but the locals don't really worry that much to do due the other big game they have to hunt.
Everyone talks about Illinois, they get to kill 2 bucks, have shorter seasons for gun, 2-3day, and 1-4 day, and you only get to hunt 2 of the three seasons, they ain't crying either, and can't use center fire rifles. They love what they have and the deer that goes with it.
Yes the 3 buck limit does seem to be the biggest talk, but I don't think changes it will reduce our hunting, it didn't here it TN when we dropped the Mega Buck number limit down. and that happened not all to long ago.

the racks on the bucks i have killed in KY are not any bigger than the ones i kill here, except for the ones that are a year or 2 older

Buck limits would have to top the list I guess. Some seem to think it will magically create big bucks for them to kill. Iowa for instance has a 3 buck limit in some cases, Illinois 2, etc. I dont think the buck limit will solve many probs for those wanting it lowered. TN has mature bucks living here now, changing how many Joe is allowed to kill, will not suddenly make those existing 100% bigger, or will it make them any dumber!

Great Topic, i agree the buck limit seems to be the great topic, im a fan of the longer archery season and one buck limit like Ohio. imo... how can one overlook the big B $ C producing states' low buck limit? what would happen to there numbers of 4.5-5.5 yr old bucks these states went to 3 Buck limit? stir.. stir stir..

Probably wouldnt make much difference, as many big buck states are already at 2 and 3 buck limits. Illinois 2, Iowa 3 in some cases, etc. Its not about the limit, its what grows them that makes the difference.

BUCK LIMIT!
that's the only reason to tune in to tndeer.com
I suspect in 25 years we'll still be debating it whether the limit is 1 or 100.
What makes it so fun to discuss is that everybody's an 'expert' and everybody has an opinion.
