I already know that those of you that choose to shoot whatever you want have no desires for either so there's no need for a page full of "leave the season like it is" replies. This question wasn't directed at you. Do you not "shoot whatever you want" ....and if you don't shoot "whatever you want" then what's keeping you? I realize you haven't shot a buck in years, but isn't that problem soley yours? Why try to make it everybody else's problem? Why this sudden burst of complaining...I thought you were proud of yourself that your standards were so high you couldn't shoot a buck? LMAO, zing! I will have to say that anybody not killing mature bucks in TN has a problem of some sort, either too picky or need a change in hunting tactics for sure.

I too hunt other states, but I would also agree with a shorter season. Taking the pressure off these deer about 3 weeks earlier than we do now, and maybe start about 2 weeks later as well. I am however fine with the limit as it is now. I like having the opportunity to kill 3 good bucks if I can accomplish it. With as many hunters as their are that are already using self restraint and not shooting 3 yearlings anymore, the limit I think is becoming a non issue. Most hunters have put self limits in place on age and size of deer that they will harvest and thats taken care of the limits IMO anyway.
Good post and very true.

I don't know if I would actually like a shorter overall season, but I personally wouldn't mind mostly bow hunting season, but that's just a personal preference. To be honest, I would like the season to run til the end of January. That's when some of the best hunting is around where I'm at.

I agree 100% with what Wes P.said. except we need to take ,or maybe have hunters kill at least 1 doe before they can start buck hunting,we need to thin the does out up here.that is urgent I look for mother nature to rise her ugly head again soon.

pass-thru....I'm not complaining at all and I take sole responsibility in my shooting or not shooting a buck. You're right in that I'm picky and probably too picky for my own good and I don't know anyone who probably couldn't improve their deer hunting abilities. Many of the bucks I've shown pics to of the bucks I pass would have been shot by those guys I hunt with and they're picky as well. I posed the question like I did on this topic to those who hunt much like I do without having to wade through all the other crap generally tacked onto these type questions. All I was interested in was opinions on this topic; not the finger pointing, name calling, personality bashing, or 15 other posts that had absolutely nothing to do with what I asked. Maybe I should have typed slower, lol.

Only people like you who have voluntarily passed up a lot of deer and a lot of large antlered bucks can fully relate to your perspective, a richly rewarded one IMO.

To tell you the truth Wes, sometimes I wonder if I'm not there just to be there. I still won't leave the gun at home though, lol.

I , for sure, hunt not to eat or to impress others with my KILL, but to satisfy my need to "be alone".......basically, on Chaney, I will normally only hunt where I can get far away from everyone else.
Not being anti-social, just feel the need to enjoy nature, one on one.
Two reasons why I rarely take any deer.......first and foremost, I could not care any less about the actual KILL. I grew out of that long ago. Secondly, once I take the deer, my hunt is over and the work begins. I enjoy the hunt far too much to ruin it by actually killing a deer.......lol.
