I always hate to see people waste $$ on a nikon prostaff or buckmaster when you can get a burris fullfield II for $130 brand new!!

Burris is a pretty good scope but for u to say they are junk is being a little far fletched aint it?
I have shot them all that u have mentioned and there isnt very very little difference in them.
Please explain what is so much better about the Burris than say the Prostaff or buckmaster . JMO

agree and disagree

un can get a used or refurb burris for 100$ heck i may have seen em new at that price

i have had 2 fixed power buckmaster that are way clearer that the burris fulfield II that i have owned

if you want to buy a GREAT scope and NEVER buy another as long as u will live

buy a ZEISS
3-9x40 demo $369 a lot more clearer than a leupold VXiii or vari-xiii

cant go wrong with a leupy tho but zeiss is a better scope at a better price

shows how much i look at scopes and prices didn't know you could get zeiss for $369, that's a good price

David, buy a couple of inexpensive two man ladder stands. Set them up where you can take advantage of the two most common wind directions. Put them where the sun will be at your back if at all possible. Buy some camo burlap and zip ties to hang the burlap around your stand from the shooting rail like a curtain. Hunt whichever stand has the best wind for that particular day.

The trophy rock advice is excellent! Deer love them. Put them on an old stump and they will last longer than just tossing them on the ground.

Try the new Redfield scopes. They seem to be reasonably priced.

One last thing that has worked for me. I have never used "premium" ammo. It is overpriced and over hyped. Try the standard Remington Core-lokt, Winchester Super-X, or Federal Power-Shok soft points. Shoot various weights fo your '06 to see which load your rifle likes best. Choose the one that your rifle is most accurate with. Bullet placement matters MUCH more than bullet weight or design. All the practice it takes to figure out the best load will build your skills and confidence. Stick with that load and it will pay dividends in meat and antlers for the rest of your life. It will also keep you from wasting money on high-tech ammo you do not need.

My 270 loves the Old Federal classic (now power-shok) 150 grain round nose. They are the cheapest in the Federal line and are DEADLY on game.

Any kind of mineral block will do. I bust mine up into 4 big chunks. Blocks only cost about $6 bucks @ coop. They will use in in the 85 plus weather, not much after that. Camera will probably only get pic's @ 10pm and 4am, but you will see what comes thru there.
Put the salt in a cleared out rotten stump, not on the ground or they will later just eat the dirt after rain dissolves it. Be sure cam isn't looking into the sun. Clean away wind blown weeds an briers. That would be a start. Later put in a PVC corn feeder and they'll keep coming back. Be sure and get rid of the corn 10 days before the season opener. Good Hunting
