That's correct. Relocated bears will travel hundreds of miles to get back to their territory. Here in British Columbia -North America's Bear capital- the CO's (Conservation Officer's) captured a bear in the city of Vancouver. They put a radio collar on it and then transported the bear with the helicopter 600 miles north. Guess what! Within less than two years that same bear was right back in Vancouver again, same Neighborhood.

Since that day our CO's only capture bears for show,as not to upset city folks, then they take the animal in the woods and give it a bullet in the head.

Aight, everyone post their weirdest encounter. Bored today and enjoy the stories. Some things are definitely hard to explain.

I've saw trail camera photos of a bear on a friends lease in Southern Mississippi. They called in Wildlife and Fisheries and they caught the bear and relocated it to a swamp about 60 miles away. A week later the bear was back on the same camera and this time it had a collar. They called again and I dont know what happened to it.

There is also a pretty good bear population close to the MS River in West Mississippi and east Louisiana. Not sure how much their range has expanded by now.

I was hunting in Northwest Arkansas around Clarksville on my grandather's farm one weekend. The first day, my uncle shot a young doe, and he left it for about 15 minutes next to a creek bottom to get his 4-wheeler. When he came back it had been half way eaten. Didn't think much of it because there were a lot of coyotes in the area. The next day I was hunting a ladder stand on a gas pipeline and noticed a large body about 80 yards off stalking through the grass. I put my scope on it just as it slipped back in the brush. It looked like it might weigh just shy of a 100lbs and had the body of a cat. But the odd thing I noticed was that it had a long tail with what looked like rings around the very end. I told my family but nobody else saw the animal that weekend while hunting.

Cougars do have very long tails, and that's what usually gets your attention right away. The long tail sticking way up in the air twitching back and forth. They are very heavy also. Way heavier than you would think for their size.

Like many other animals the younger ones (males in particular) get pushed out of the area by their own family.
They have to Leave, or Die I guess.

I have been walking through the woods about an hour before dark without a flashlight and had something off to my side off the logging road about 30 yards. I would take a few steps and it would take a few steps. I sat there for 10 minutes and just listened and didnt hear a thing. I took a few more steps and stopped and I heard it take an extra step and then stop. You talk about putting chills up my back. It only walked when I walked. It was one of those nights that you couldnt see the hand in front of your face. I got up in my stand REAL quick. Didnt see a thing that morning. This was the same land I started this thread about. Though, this was about 6 years ago.
