LMAO, zing! I will have to say that anybody not killing mature bucks in TN has a problem of some sort, either too picky or need a change in hunting tactics for sure.

Winchester, I know you killed some nice bucks last year as did some of your kin,... congrats to you guys.

Let me ask you this, And I am just referencing TN here,...how many of those mature bucks came from property that just anybody can hunt?

Just 2 good bucks killed by us on public property last year. Now some of the private property I hunt is also hunted by other hunters as well. Very few places do I have exclusive rights to hunt.
I fully understand setting your goals high and passing what many people would be very happy with, I do it myself every year. I myself however would feel like I did not do my part, if I couldnt accomplish the goals I set for myself! When I decide I want a mature buck, and that buck must have 130 inches of antler as well, then I fully intend to kill a mature buck with 130 inches of antler, and if I dont, then I didnt do my homework and failed at what I set out to do! Im not in to failure myself. I love the challenge that a mature buck presents, especially with my bow in hand, and nothing feels better than winning the game and letting the air out of him when he never ever knew I was there, thats what its all about, and I like it way too much to not make it happen each and every year, if at all possible and within my abilities, Im gona do it! I absolutely do not buy from anyone carrying a weapon, that they dont want to kill a big mature buck, and wouldnt do so if the opportunity presents itself! If this was the truth they would no longer carry a weapon! Thats my take on it anyway! Everybody does things for different reasons, and bygolly I hunt to be succesful at where I have set my goals!

Sure, I don't care to shoot any small bucks, ever. I did that as a kid. I also would be fine with a much shorter season, as I have plenty of other things to do, if deer season was closed.

I feel exactly the same way. A lot of other game animals to be chased. I also killed a world of yearling bucks as a kid but have grown as a hunter. Been there done that, but now will support any regulation that fascilitates the opportunity for more 1.5-2.5 year old bucks to survive deer season.

It has always interested me how some hunters change as they get older and get more selective, while some never change and shoot every legal deer they see. Even folks who have limited time or limited places are split when it comes to what they shoot.

I have tried to find out the answers, but the folks who like to shoot every legal deer get all bent out of shape whenever they are asked why they do what they do, rather then just answer.

I just cannot imagine shooting a 70 lb spike or 4 pt. Honestly, I cannot fathom drawing a bead on one and killing it. I enjoy watching them and seeing them, but the thought of killing them never even crosses my mind. Which I would say on the flip side, is that every deer hunter dreams and would shoot a big buck if he stepped out in front.

Just weird how different folks who have the same overall interests see things while in the woods.

A rabbit is almost as easy to kill as a 1.5 (baby) buck, nowdays.
There are still a few older hunters that chose to kill young
bucks, but that is okay with me, because it's leagal to do so.
I am thrilled to death to see a youngster with his or her first
buck, no matter how big or old the buck might be. I am also
thrilled to see a hunter that is older that is pround that they
killed a buck. Period.

If it makes them happy and they enjoy their great Tennessee
hunting experience......that is a great plus for all of us that
love to hunt.

If it's not fun and enjoyable......hunting will die. Trust me.

I guess a lot has to do with where you hunt. I live and hunt in the heart of unit L. We see so many yealings and 2.5 year olds we don't think think much about them. We see them everyday going to work and standing in peoples yards I guess I don't even view them as a game animal.I know some areas of the state.it may be hard to even see a buc

I'd like to see a one or two buck limit. I think this would end many hunters season early anyway. For those who are trophy hunters, it would work out fine for them because they could keep letting the younger deer walk . Plus it would give an incentive to the guys who kill those 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 year old deer to let them walk and get a little bigger.

I'm only 28, but i've been hunting deer since I was ten. I used to shoot anything with an antler. Now, with working, marriage, and fatherhood, i just love to get out there. My wife does not eat any deer meat and one deer is enough for me for a year. So i dont shoot anything, bow, muzzeloader, or gun unless it is a "big'un" in my book ( 120'' or bigger). Last year I saw 15 bucks from Oct. 1st to Nov. 10th when i shot a 120" 8 pt. I continued hunting afterwards, but I got even more picky and didn't shoot anything else.

I would be in favor of going back to a 2 buck limit one any gun the other bow. We have come so far since are days of being able to shoot 6 bucks or more when just about every hunter shot anything with a horn on its head and to kill an 8pt was just amazing. We now actually have a great chance of taking a 130" plus buck now every year with the limit reductions. Why raise the limit now???? If you want meat shoot a doe that's why you can take 200 plus does a year. Of all my hunting friends no one is in favor of raising the buck limit. Don't understand how or why it happened..

Don't have much respect for "trophy hunters". Bafoons, most of them. No need to impliment their regulations on everyone, when they already have the power to manage their own private farms or leases. They tend to blame others and their practices for lack of ability to kill their trophy bucks. Plenty of "good" bucks runnin around on both public and private land. Just because these "so called" trophy hunters can't kill them, doesn't mean they ain't there.
