I don't want to here hunt the wind considering I hunt the mountains of E. TN were the winds will blow in several directions during a four hr. period. GNB, this is where stand site selection comes into play. Wind speed can be just as important as direction in some areas, Example, a bench on the side of a ridge, with a prevailing wind that would blow DOWN the hill. I have some such stands that with enough velocity, the wind never hits until it reaches the near bottom of the hollow, hence allowing me to hunt the bench without detection, even with a so called bad wind. Hunting the wind is much more complext than just its direction!

That's one reason I hunt high when on the side of ridges. I'm sure it doesn't help that I hunt near an area called "WIND ROCK". The weather will be calling for calm winds in the area but it always seems to blow up there...

I hunt that general area (Gobey, new river, brimstone) quite a bit myself and it can be a task for sure.
