Montgomerey, Robertson, Cheatham, Stewart counties- November the 8th! No doubt- that day has always been a "money maker" for me! I have shot bucks either trailing or chasing does on this day for many years. I will do some pretty extreme stuff to get that day off of work!

Maury County. Anytime in November or early December. There is no
certain day, but if I only had one choice, I would pick a nice
frosty morning in the middle of November.

DEPENDS on how you define "peak".

Peak buck roaming or peak breeding?

I think some are confusing great pre-peak buck movement with "peak" rut. Right before a lot of does come in, but right when a few do, the bucks can start going crazy, greatly increasing their daylight linear movement. Just my observation, but seems the younger bucks (3 1/2 and younger) are more involved in this "frenzy" than mature bucks (who seem to know it's just not time yet). I usually see this sometime between November 5 and 15th, but weather (mainly temperature) is the primary factor regarding my observations.

But when peak breeding hits (a week or two later), sometimes it can almost seem like the rut has come and gone, as many of the bucks are with estrous does instead of out looking for them.

After most of the does have been bred, there seems to be another flurry of buck activity, and this is the period I've been most successful on mature bucks. This is usually late November, although the real flurry of buck sightings is in early November. Sometime around the 1st week of December, it's like someone flips a switch, and most daytime buck roaming just ends. At least that has been my typical annual experience in Stewart County.

I have always seen more big bucks, and have had many good hunts around Thanksgiving form east to west in 30 some years of deer hunting. Weather starts to get a little snappy too getting them moving also.
If were talking the chase>look for up ticks in road kill in your hunting area if possable ;\)
