I am aware of the reg's on bow hunting. I just have one question, I know you can't hunt deer with a spear because of it's limitations. However, has an Atlatl ever been considered? It would fit within the regulations put forth by TWRC. Also, what about the slingshot or sling and rock. It worked on Goliath. I have been watching too much Discovery channel.

The Atlatl would NOT fit within the regulations put forth by TWRC.
Various weapons have been "discussed" over the years, but there have been no changes recommended to the TWRC.

Yes, if propelled from a bow (and if the flint tip is a non-barbless design with sharpened blades).

Thats what I was getting to Stik. Some of these weapons have been quite lethal for thousands of years. Take the crossbow(just legalized, used well before Christ.) I am not saying I am going to go out with an Atlatl,Spear etc. I was just curious. When I bowhunt, I usually use a recurve or longbow and I use a flintlock musket during ML season. However, normally I use a T/C Encore single shot .300 WinMag during rifle season. I can't help it, I am a purist. Not to say that I am questioning TWRC. They do as they feel fit for the average hunter. What about "Buckshot?" I shot my first deer with 00 Buck and, guess what, it worked. I assume because of the "Buck/Deer" shot is designed to take game at short or running range. It is good enough for our LE community, why not use it for which it was designed?

I'm not trying to divert this thread in another direction, but I'm curious myself as to why buckshot is not legal. I killed my first 2 deer with buckshot down in FL. Dropped them both where they stood.
