Is hunting over corn still legal in Ky? I got permission to hunt a farm up there this year and the person that hooked me up mentioned that he thought they made it illegal. Illegal to even feed corn for trail cam purposes, salt licks also.
Is there any truth to this or is he mistaken?

You could bait last year during deer season. Not sure if any changes were made for this year though.

It must be legal... That would explain why they kill bigger bucks in KY, than TN. :D.

we spend so much time criticizing each other.if its legal then let your conscience be your guide and quit worrying what other people are doing.i see no difference in putting corn on the ground or in the ground.we do what we can to better our odds at scoring our prey.as long as its legal who am i to judge.now unfortunately this topic will probably turn into a debate of baiting and ive helped it on its way with my posts so ill apologize to my buddy paradis1142 for getting off topic.

trust me just because you can bait doesnt make it easy. I've had a lease in KY for 2 years now and we have killed 1 deer hunting around the feeders. Honestly i think its more trouble than its worth. however it is good for getting some good trail cam photo's

your exactly right. the deer tear up my salt block and where i throw corn out but i havent ever seen a mature buck touch it. not saying they dont i just havent seen them do it.

i didnt even put corn out last year its just not that big a deal to me i guess

Baiting might be good for killing young and inexperienced deer,
but in a normal hunting and pressured area, I question it's
effectiveness on mature deer. The mature deer will eat the corn,
but most of the time it will be under the best cover of all....
..darkness.

I don't have any experience hunting anywhere over "bait", but I
do have a theory.

I hunted a farm in KY for many years with a group of guys, 2 of which kept bait out for the deer and hunted over it. All I can say is they have yet to kill a buck as big as the smallest one I ever shot off that farm. Its not a magic cure for learning how to hunt, but if its legal have at it. I dont think its doing much harm and its definitely not getting the population overkilled IMO!

Alot of people talk about corn and food plots as baiting. In my
opinion, these "artificial" food scorces are often overlooked in
the fall by the deer, when there is a bounty of natural food that
they naturally crave.

No doubt, in hard winter times, a deer will cherish non natural
foods. It just seems to me that deer prefer to eat what's best
for their body when it's avalible. This has to do with instinct.

I have put corn out around my yard before, just to view the deer
and their behavior. My observations is where I get this
hypothesis.

Don't know about feeders but I'm glad a trophy rock is legal in TN to hunt over!
