If for what ever reason you only had 1 more hunt you were able to go on. What would the details of it be? Where, When, Weapon, and with who would you share it, if anyone?

You may surprise yourself with your answers. Mine didn't match up with my normal hunting routine. Things that typically seemed important were almost nonexistent.

WOW...what a question...makes you think...

My last hunt would have to be back in the Bob Marshall Wilderness area in Mt. hunting for elk just one more time...It may surprise some but it would have to be with my ex-father in-law. We shared a lot of hunts and now he has cancer...sad and heart breaking...I miss the old guy and we shared a lot of great hunts. I don't even care if I took an elk but to walk the land I once hunted with a good man and shared great memories. To sit around the camp fire over a cup of coffee and hear the big boys bugle...it will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up during the rut. I'm am thankful to have shared such moments with this fine man and hunting companion...

Thanks for the memories...

It would be a New Mexico elk hunt with a bow during the bugling season. Second choice and a close second would be Q-L caribou hunt, also with a bow in early Sept.

My last hunt has happened. I went for 2.5 hours opening day of bow season here. Passed up three shots. Haven't hunted since and probably won't.

Some great hunts posted above. Curious Bowwriterdid you lose interest all at once or has it been coming for some time?

Certainly something about running out of time that helps a person put in perspective whats really important to you.

Probably like most of you I take my whitetail hunting very serious. So serious it has taken me out of my element often and I find myself at times spinning, twisting and bending deer hunting in so many different directions, in an attempt to be successful.

For more than 15 years I have got into my pickup and driven 4 1/2 hours to an area in middle Tn that is known for big bucks. Fairly level ground, agriculture and big timber. Last year made that drive 15 times. Don't get me wrong I do love hunting this place obviously and its some beautiful country but, the big buck potential in a way sometimes makes me go a little crazy and lose sight of what it really is that I truly love about hunting.

If it were my last hunt I would choose to stay in east Tn more specifically up here on the mountain a deep hardwood hollow surrounded by 100s of acres of pines that I found 25 years ago called Stinging Fork. Something about that spot, maybe the pines are like a wall that kept the outside world out. No engine noises, no car horns, and most of all no cell signal. Id take a lunch in from a mom and pop store just down the road. I'm thinking Id have them cut a thick slice of bologna and tomato a couple onion circles and some mayo on white bread with a moon-pie for dessert! My old marlin 30-30 would be slung across the right shoulder of my son. We would hunt from daylight til dark all the time enjoying ALL that nature had to offer. The whistle of a cool breeze through the pines, the creek winding its way through the mountain rock and laurel the covers the bottom of that hollow, a chipmunk rustling in the leaves and killing a deer would at best be an afterthought.

It would have to be with Dad, he fell and was paralized from the neck down \:\( when I was 4 yrs old. He loved his hunting, and could tell a story so vividly \:o you could see it happening in your head. He made me want to realize his passion of hunting, and of the outdoors and encouraged me to do so. I'm so glad he did. \:D "Thanks Dad" I miss you. \:\)

draw a moose tag finally in maine
get unlimited access to powerful skidder

and shoot a big boy out in the willywacks like baxter state park where moose die of old age cause ya cant hunt their or in the allagash well well off the beaten path these moose are not seen by your typical moose road hunters and their guides
and if ya shoot one out in the willy wacks you better have a skidder and a couple of guys with saws and a couple of days time to get a twitch road in to it.

the state record back in 2000 was a 221 inch moose shot by a woman i went to high school with named cynthia higgins

sheds are found every year in the 85 to 90 inch range by snowmobilers and shed hunters in late march and early april laying around
add another 85-90 inch shed to that and you come up with 170-180 inches and add a 60 average inch spread to that and the state record is smashed

but noone wants to shoot a 1000-1200 pd moose out in the willy wacks and deal with getting the thing out

i would if i could have the conditions set
i have seen some pretty big moose up their but have never been able to draw a friggin tag even when i was a resident

If it was to be my last, it would be with my boys and a hunt of their choosing.
