If it was to be my last hunt. I'd surely want to take my little girl out to the mountain property and just hunt with her all day where I have hunted all my life. Hardwood ridges and hollers that my Dad, his Dad, and his Dad's Dad have hunted before me. \:\)

Mine would be a dove field...opening day. Summmy and hot. My whole family there having a picnic and listening to music up until 2-3. Then have rain clouds roll in for a 15-30 thunderstorm. Thats when the birds fly the best and the communial and family aspect is my favorite way to start a hunting season!

Actually, I think that my last hunt would be a first. You see, my father got killed when I was 4 years old. We never had the opportunity to hunt together. My Uncle gave me my Dad's old Belgium Browning 12 gauge for Christmas a few years back. Apparently, he was one heck of a bird hunter. I wonder if he ever wanted to hunt deer? I think that we would be able to learn a lot from each other about how we hunt our favorite game (mine being deer, of course). But, mainly, I would just like to get to know him..........

Since I have never been able to talk my wife in to hunting with me, I would have to say that I would love for her to be with me for my last hunt. Of course, we would both be so old that we would probably have to be sitting in a ground blind, maybe wheelchair accessible..haha. We would sit in a nice blind in the Hatchie Bottoms all day. We would see lots of deer and spend the rest of the time (when not seeing deer) talking about anything and everything. The day would be slightly warm (since she can't take the cold), clear and calm. Just as the sun was going down, right about the last minute of legal shooting light, my best buck to date would walk out. On the way home, my wife would look at me and say "Thanks for talking me in to coming with you. Are you happy?" My reply would be..."Happier than I can describe, thank you for being there with me."

Since we don't have kids, I can't think of a better way to end a great hunting career.....

thanks for the thread....it made me think about what's really important.

I would hunt up at LBL with some of my good deer hunting friends because that's what it's all about. As one friend recently said, killing a big buck would be a great afterthought. ;\)

It would be with My Father and my 2 Boys without a doubt! It would be a Whitetail hunt in Illinois/Iowa in November with a gun! And all I would hope for is all 3 of them to kill a big buck and have fun, just being there would be all I need!
