What if you took something "odd" to your stand and hung it up , maybe wind chimes.......would the odd sound attract deer , at least until they got used ot it......
and would that be BAITING....????
haha
if you knew of a scent that deer have never smelled, could you use that to attract deer based on their curiousity...?
any thoughts....?

they ate all the shrubery at my house, I would moon/flash them, a real ugly site, it made no difference, It will sooner or later make a person understand that we are sitting in a tree and waiting on a real dumb animal, lmrfao

Iv'e seen many "curious" deer around my house over the last 30 years, but I have yet to see a "curious" mature buck doing "curious" things.....in my yard.
I guess if I saw a mature deer licking my grill, I would break my neck trying to get my camera. On the other hand, my house is near where deer hunting happens every year.

All depends on what they've been conditioned to react to. While I was on my four wheeler last year, I spotted three does feeding under a white oak. I stopped about forty yards away, shut off the engine, and sat there completely still. One of the does made a big circle and walked up to about fifteen yards away from me to check me out. She never spooked, just went back to eating. I've never harrassed or shot at deer from anywhere near a four wheeler so they don't associate it with danger.

Deer are curious about many things and some odd things. They are certainly attracted to chainsaws but it isn't curiosity. They know the saw puts green groceries on the ground. The same is true of logging sites. I can't count the deer I have killed with a bow while sitting on a skidder after the loggers leave.
They are also attraced to sawdust piles at chipper locations. Warning-so are rattle snakes. The deer like to play in them. Same is true of newly plowed fields and mud puddles in old roads. It is amazing the things you learn when you watch more than you hunt. Oddest thing I have ever seen is a young buck playing with a chicken. They played tag for over an hour, totally ignoring me.
