I got a pic of a 6 pt from my trail cam on April 17th. Why does this deer still have its rack??

Anterled doe, injured male sex organs or good nutrients in the area. I am told the better the nutrients the later they will drop. I did see anterled deer on GDM land in Williamson Co. in April last year.

I've heard the same thing too, but then wouldn't that mean the deer in the nutrient rich soil Midwest hold their headgear longer?

i have seen many deer still carrying antlers as late as the 1st week of may.

he's ok, not too uncommon for them to carry them til late April or even early May sometimes!

I've also seen bucks carry their antlers till early May, basically the new antler pops off the old ones
