On the heaviest deer ever killed in Tennessee. I have never seen a published report on weight records, but I suppose there could be. Many of us hunters focus on antler records, but it would be interesting to know some #of pounds records for a Tennessee deer.

I'm sure there are some records from official scales. But I don't trust anything else. All kinds of inaccuracies come off of unofficial scales. How many pics of "150#" does are posted on here every year? How many of those does do you really think weighed anything close to that?

Looking at TWRA's collected data most counties avg mature buck weight in TN is about 200lbs more or less. Cumberland Co is 220 lbs avg field dressed. I believe Hamilton Co averages over 220 lbs as well. You would think a state record would approach 300 having avgs like that. Havent seen any record of it though. Doubt that info like that gets much attention since we are supposed to be a small buck state with poor soils.

Where are you getting this information? I'm not saying it isn't so, but it's hard for me to believe that anywhere in TN has an average field dressed weight of 220 lbs.

Dont know how you are getting "avg mature buck weight"but I would also believe that is high. The biggest buck I have ever seen field dressed came from the Indiana corn and soybean area, and it was MASSIVE at 225,much larger than any deer Ive seen here.

Although Im sure there is an exception out there somewhere,a buck that would live weight around 300,but I doubt field dressed 300,that would be close to a 375 live weight deer.Heck I killed a 245 lb live weight buck in SC,in a very, very poor soil ara, there are always exceptions.

The biological data is not field-dressed weight. It is live weight. Field dressed weights are divided by 0.75 to get the live weight (although in my experiences that is an inaccurate modifier: it should be 0.75 for does, fawns and yearling bucks; 0.80 for 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 year-old bucks; and 0.82 for bucks 4 1/2+).

My bad fellas, thought it was field dressed weight. Still 220 avg for bucks in the 5.5 age class is pretty good even if it is live weight. You can or used to be able to view it under biological data from TWRA's website. Search by county.
My two heaviest tn deer weighed 173 and 190 dressed.

I tried several weeks ago to research that very same thing. TWRA said they have no individual "weight records" for deer.
For some reason though I have stuck back in the dark hollows of my head something about reading an article years ago that said the largest (heaviest) known whitetail taken in TN came from Sumner County (around Portland) or Robertson County (maybe Orlinda) near the KY line. Right in that area.
But I tried and tried to find that article but never did.
But I do wish TWRA would start weight records just like they have for the antler inches.

My two heaviest tn deer weighed 173 and 190 dressed. Thats got to be a low number of 5.5 being taken, but I imagine 220 would be close, which works out to about a 165 fd buck.

I took a deer 2 years ago that 230 field dressed, it was a beast, it was the only deer that I ever killed that I couldn't get on the 4-wheeler by myself, weighed it at a cotton gin on certified scales, not lying about it, I'll post a pic if you want

Please post a pic. At 230 field dressed that buck will be around 290 live weight. I've never seen a buck that big in TN. He must have been a monster.

this field pic shows the size of a TN big bodied buck, the body makes the rack look almost small(outside spread was 24"), The guy to my right is 240lbs, Im 185lbs and the buck field dressed 250lbs on what I would assume where uncalibrated scales, I know this buck was an exception being a freak of nature but it happens
