Well another post on here got me thinking about the bucks I've killed and the ones I've got on the wall and how I've progressed as a buck hunter over the years until this year :(, when I regressed by taking a buck I mistaked for another but here are my bucks that are on the wall.

1st deer 1.5year old 6point on Bowater public land on Bakewell Mtn. TN

120" 3.5year old 9point from Fort Campbell with a shotgun.

116" 3.5year old 8point from Fort Campbell with a bow.

110" 2.5year old 9point on private land with a 30-30rifle.

That's what my tape said, you can come over and measure him if you want to?

I've gone from a shoot anything with antlers hunter, to a shoot anything that's 2 1/2+ hunter, to a shoot anything that's 3 1/2+ hunter, to a borderline mature buck/trophy hunter.

But now I think I'm turning into Bowriter and regressing. \:\)

After some long, hard evaluation of why I hunt and what I enjoy, I may just go back to shooting whatever makes me happy. I can't imagine ever knowingly shooting a yearling buck, but everything else is fair game, depending upon how I feel that day!

I completely and totally agree with that but like this past season when I killed the 2.5 9point, I still think about man what would he have been this season and I think that for me is the biggest reason why I stopped shooting young bucks cause I want to see what they will be, if you kill em their dead end of story!

He!! imagine how big the big buck you didn't kill will be next year! It ain't the end of the world or your hunting career. It's hunting. Quite beating yourself up over shooting a buck that most hunters (including myself) would absolutely love to get the opportunity to shoot.

BTW I'm not mad nor am I trying to be an intelligent donkey. \:\)
