That's actually when I would be getting a little concerned about the neighbors!
yep and i see on here so many times that it doen't matter what your neighbors kill, if you want to kill mature bucks and only have permisson on a small piece of land, it matters alot

you guys just say they need to become more skilled

how can all the skill in the world help you kill mature bucks when you only have access to 100 or so acres and everyone around you shoots the heck out of yearlings, i smart enough to realize they ain't gonna kill all of them but they can put a huge dent in them

i'm lucky i only have to deal with 2 guys on 35 acres that borders me all of the other properties around me that totals about 800 acres do not allow hunting at all

everyone does have the right to shoot whatever they want and i have no problem with that i would be the first to give my congrats to anyone no matter what they shot

everyone has personal goals and has the right to try to meet them
Sometimes the skills that need to be improved are not the hunting skills but the skills needed to identify better areas to hunt and then find ways to hunt that property either by getting permission or by leasing it. IMO

That's part of hunting... I'm sure there are also bucks that are passed up and also hit by vehicles. Anytime you let a buck walk, it's a gamble if that buck will live another year.. Too many factors play into it.... \:\)

Yep in Jefferson County. Both me and the bro-in-law watched a small spike jump the fence walk to the top of the hill on the adjoining property and boooom the neighbor shot him. The thing couldn't have field dressed at 80 lbs...

But that's the point. If you know how to manage habitat and deer herds, you can have that despite what the neighbors are doing.

Ha, well i will agree with half of that. If we did have a properly managed deer herd some could have that despite what the neighbors are doing.

Perhaps there are areas that, under the current regulations, are beyond hope. However, I've personally never seen that. And I certainly have seen properties in areas that were thought to be beyond hope--and not just TN but in terribly managed and over-shot areas of PA and MI--turned into amazingly successful programs.

But I'll be the first to admit that having control over the habitat of a property--and intensively manipulating it--were critical to those successes.
