Yesterday afternoon I was turkey hunting in Maury Co. and had two does come within 10yds. One doe looked looked just fine the other not so much. She had 10in spikes and no other visible male parts. I was able to observe these deer for about 30 min at a very close range. She acted like a doe and was traveling with a doe. I guess my question is do antlered doe drop there antlers or not? And is it possible for a buck to still have it's antlers on April 5th?

Question 1, don't think so.
Question 2, very possible.

Might be wrong but don't bucks testicles draw back up in them? think that happens to Ruger this time of year. Hehe!

If so it could have looked like a doe.

Were you looking for testicles? Remember, a buck's testicles draw up inside his body outside of the fall/rut and may not be visible in spring/early summer.

Again, bucks bodies do not produce testosterone all year long. They go from being virtually emasculated (and act very doe-like) in spring, to having so much testoterone in fall they act wilder than the most 'roid-raged body builder in fall. The differences in blood testosterone from spring to fall is huge.

Now that doesn't mean the deer wasn't an antlered doe--it certainly happens--but bucks can act and look very doe-like at this time of year.

A wide variety of reasons exist for does that grow antlers. Some will grow a new set every year, just like bucks, and others will not.

Absolutely.

Seems like I remember hearing that if there is a genetic issue where the female deer ends up with antlers, she never loses the the velvet off the antlers.
