If you really think about it, what is the difference in being a BIG buck hunter and a limit guy..?

If you set your goal to take the limit of any species and do not feel completely successful unless you do, then why would you NOT understand a BIG BUCK hunter's mindset.? Both of these type hunters set their goals and strive to reach them.

Also, I know alot of fishermen that throw back every fish that is not a certain size, and some even throw them all back....even if the regulations say they can keep everything that they catch.

Why are big buck hunters so often questioned and other sportsmen that exhibit the same type of selectiveness not ?

Often times, fishermen that throw back these "less than trophy" fish are praised and people say that they are doing a good thing by letting someone else catch that fish.

Well, if I let a small buck go, I am doing the same thing. I know that a fisherman does have the experience of catching the fish before turning it loose, but to me, getting a deer in my sights is just the same as getting one on the hook. Pulling the trigger is just a formality, IMO.

Any thoughts......?

I don't see "trophy" hunters being questioned for their motivations or goals. I see some trophy hunters being questioned for their demands that other hunters be more regulated/limited so that trophy hunters have a better chance of acheiving their goals.

BSK just hit the nail on the head. Not always, but sometimes it's the big buck hunter that is upset someone is shooting the smaller bucks.

BSK nailed it but good analogy BH.

Some years ago, a big ole boy gave a nine year old kid heck for shooting a button. I ran him out of camp and made a fool out of him. Cost me $1500 and worth every penney of it.

I was wondering the same thing as I often read all of the one buck limit posts, as well as the trophy hunter posts. I see the thinking you guys have about shooting anything you see fit. But has it ever occurred to you that the "1 buck limit" hunters want this not just for themselves but for everyone in the state? Obviously changing the rules will have a good and bad effect either way you go about it, but I think most on this site jump to the conclusion that all trophy hunters want the rules changed for thier own benefit.

Just something to think about!
