It is a painstaking process and rather nasty.
I skinned it and got as much of the meat off as I could. Gouged out the brain matter with a coat-hanger, eyeballs with a knife, etc. Then, I buried it in the ground for two weeks, leaving only the antlers above ground. I tied it off to a tree just in case some critter thought about digging it up and dragging it off. In the ground, the grubs, ants and beetles pretty much stripped what tissue was left. Then I simmered it in a pot with some Dawn detergent for about three hrs---not boiling water----just simmering. Got any remaining tissue off, packed all the crevices and brain cavity with Borax and let sit for a couple days. Then rinsed off and soaked in Volume 40 peroxide for about 8 hrs.

I am working on my first attempt at this and let's just say that next time I will send it off to someone else or just wait until summer and let Ma nature do her magic. So far I have about 10 hrs in cleaning, boiling, scraping, soaking, boiling, scraping, breaking bones, scraping... and I still have a ways to go.
The eyes and brain were easy. The nasal passage and ears are driving me crazy

With all that hard work, just imagine how good you'll feel once it is hanging on your wall. Keep it up, you'll get it done.
