I say kill all the young bucks so I'm not tempted when I get bored... The meat is very tender.... The spikes make good hat holders.... They are easier to drag through the woods because you don't have to worry about there antlers getting hung up on branches.... Saves on wall space... Buttons don't count against your buck limits... No one bothers you, wanting to look at it.... kids don't care how many points they have on there heads... Last but not least, because the law will allow you too........ \:D \:D

Why? Meat in the freezer, easy to drag, it is legal to do so, to aggravate "TROPHY HUNTERS“and various reasons that are too numerous to list. GET OVER IT.

You are not going to get meat hunters to apologize for doing something that is legal and “NO ONE CAN DICTATE HOW ANOTHER HUNTER SHOULD OR SHOULD NOT HUNT AS LONG AS WHAT THEY ARE DOING IS LEGAL”. \:D \:D

had a friend who liked fat girls. Never understood it but thanfully he did. left the skinnier ones for everyone else. You should feel thankful they leave the mature bucks for you. What are you griping about? When they start shooting your mature bucks then I would be pissed.

I see your point, and I personally don't try to shoot yearling bucks just because that's my preference, but last year I did shoot a spike thinking it was a doe. It didn't bother me one bit because I was on a meat hunt. If someone wants to harvest a yearling buck, then have at it.

Is there a difference between shooting a doe in January who is carrying...could be carrying a embryo that is gonna be a big buck in 4 years.

A deer is a deer is a deer, venison is venison...some is just a bit more tender.

Meet hunters are gonna shoot what they want
Trophy hunters are gonna shoot what they want
No sense in arguing about it.

Several years ago I was making posts just like the one that started here. I hunted a lease where I was passing alot of young deer only to see them come into camp on the back of wheelers from other members. How in the world did I stand a chance at seeing much less shooting any older, bigger bucks if they were being killed as yearlings? Although I still managed to take a few my odds were drastically being cut down. I became disillusioned. I really liked the lease I was on and it had great potential but I was in the minority and like it or not, I wasn't the only hunter in the woods. My solution and maybe yours as well was to move on to greener pastures. I found a lease where everyone was of the same mindset as me and my opportunties of seeing the deer I was interested in shooting were once again a realistic possibility. If this isn't an option and you hunt a small parcel of land then you'll have to grin and bear it and keep talking to your neighbors about the merits of letting them walk.

Ok Mike, tell the truth, I bet there are a good number of hunters on your lease fined every year for shooting bucks that don't meet the minimum, right?
