Bottom Hunter,

When is your next book coming out...

My favorite tool ? Good question and a hard one...

Silly answer but: my mind....I love the game I play to figure out just what is going on with the deer....

As many times as I have stood in the Bottoms motionless for "quite some time" trying to piece together WHERE I thought I was and WHAT was over there and HOW far certain terrain features were, I find it much easier to stand along a bend in a sloughbed and be able to SEE (from above)exactly where I am ...etc.

Where I like to go down on Chaney is close to the SOUTH boundary. Marking the boundary on my aerial helps me a great deal SEE just how much ground there is between me and the boundary and what's on the other side of the boundary......

Too many times deer hunters get caught up too much in the terrain on their property and not enough on what's just across the boundary line. On Chaney, many deer cross the river off of us on a daily basis. Knowing why may help you know when and where to hunt. Many times , in the bottomlands, boundary occur in the timber. Knowing what the ground OVER THERE looks like is truly far more beneficial than some people may realize.
