When Im scouting,I usually think..."where are the deer now?How are they gonna get to X" Be it white oaks, food plots, whatever, thats how I usually start out, what do you do?
I usually associate everything with food and how they are gonna get to it,then find funnels, think of provailing winds, etc.
And then I usually confuse myself on that old logging road thats covered in scrapes and rubs

In the mornings ,. i focus on were deer are going to bed from the long night of feeding. In the mid-day,.. i focus on spots around were they bed,. hoping they will slip out for alittle snack,. in the afternoon i focus on feeding areas.

I find thick cover/bedding areas. I hunt here mornings and evenings except for early and late season afternoons when I key in on fields.
During the rut I move back in woods and try and find where an edge habitat contacts a terrain feature.

I try to focus my stand areas between food and cover.
